Resolved Question: do you like living on Portland, Oregon?

Do you find this living here is affordable? Are there a lot of jobs there even though its a struggling economy? What do you think are the down falls of living in Portland, Oregon? How are the school's there? I am asking this because my husband and I are thinking about moving from California to Portland, Oregon because we can not afford to buy a house in Southern, CA and probably will never afford to and were thinking about moving up there.
